LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN HOTSTONE THERAPY MASSAGE

Course Description

The main aim of the  Level 2 certificate  in Hot Stone Therapy Massage is to enable Learners to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide Stone Therapy Massage to the general public and to gain employment in the Spa Industry.

Prerequisite Requirements

The course is designed for anyone with an interest in learning. No formal qualifications are required to study with us. Our courses are suitable if you want to learn new skills, start a new career, or if you’re already working in a particular industry and wish to upgrade your talents and enhance your resume.

Course Overview

  • The main skills the Learner will perform are:

    • Stone Therapy Massage - to include the use of techniques and stones such as classical massage movements, trigger point work, semi-precious, hot and cold stones and adapting the treatment to the clients’ specific treatment needs

    The Learner will also develop knowledge about client care and communication which is essential in order to work and be successful in the Industry

    This qualification also provides:

    • The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the Massage treatments outlined above effectively, in particular the anatomy and physiology of the body and common diseases and disorders that may affect whether a client should or should not receive treatment
    • Opportunities for Learners to focus on the development of their wider skills in a Massage and electrical treatment setting, such as communicating with clients, working with others and problem solving
    • Opportunities for Learners to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a Stone Massage Therapist

 Guided Learning Hours (GLH)
Guided Learning Hours is ‘the activity of a learner in being taught or instructed by – or otherwise participating in education or training under the immediate guidance or supervision of – a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training’. This includes ‘the activity of being assessed if the assessment takes place under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training’.
Total Qualification Time (TQT)
Total Qualification Time is the number of notional hours which represents an estimate of the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected to be required, in order for a learner to achieve and demonstrate the achievement of the level of attainment necessary for the award of the qualification.

To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully
achieve the following assessments:

  • External and internal practical examination
  • External and internal theory examination( MCQ)
  • Portfolio of evidence containing
    • Case studies
